The Obrien area welcomes my return

Chea and I had a quick ride around the Obrien loop this morning. Put in a good 16 miles at a hellish pace. Forgot how many hills that loop has in it. It was a nice welcome home ride after my summer on Benzie county roads. Looking forward to many more rides before the season ends. Hopefully I will be able to explore all of Kent and Ottawa counties before the snow flies cause i'm only goin to the top of the hill.

Back in the real world

Arrived back in Grand Rapids this afternoon with all of my gear. After 4 months of Frankfort it is good to be home although I will miss everything about that wonderful northern paradise. August proved to be another month without internet and very little contact with the outside world. I ate, i rode, i worked, and i slept. Passed my thousand mile goal with ease and continue to count the miles. Some great rides up some of the worst hills in Benzie county and each one got easier the more i did them. I'm looking forward to getting that extra push to perform from Chea. I get the feeling he's in better shape than he's leading on. I hear the Grand river valley hills calling me. I gotta get that spoke fixed. Afterall, I'm only goin to the top of the hill.

A month without internet but plenty of rides

So July has come and gone and August is already moving fast. Before you know it will be leaving the land of hills and lakes for tamer roads and less time to ride them. But there were many excellent rides throughout the month of July that would take too long to write about individualy so I will sum them up with this: Tour de Benzie started the month. Then 'round the lake and a Warren double. Herring lake saw little of us, but when it did we hammered past it. Biking to work became the norm. 7 miles out and 7 miles back, once in the sun and once in the black. Hills are much easier now and the waist line is shrinking. 20 pounds gone and still plenty of good biking weather. 1000 miles for the summer will be reached by the end of today. August should be full of tough rides and hopefully some friends will join in the fun. That's all the time I have right now cause in the end, I'm only goin to the top of the hill.
